kaala is the measure of change or transformation. Everything that changes is a dravya, so kaala is also a dravyas. The word Kaala is derived from the root verb ‘Kal’, it means to count. In Ayurveda, kaala is taken as kshanadi kaala and vyadhyavatha kaala. Kshanaadi kaala represents universal time counted in seconds minutes etc, seasons, diurnal variations etc. Vyaadhyavathaa kaala means different stages of diseases and time of executing treatment.
