There are four types of words in Sanskrit, such as Naama, Aakhyaata, Upasarga,and Nipaata. When Vibhakti (cases) pratyaya (suffix) joins to the word (Naam), it is termed sup-padam, while, the other in which Kriyaa pratyaya (suffix) joins to the word (dhaatu), it is termed ting padam. In laghusiddhanta koumudi, a chapter named karaka prakaranam explains vibhaktyarthas, through two types of sutras. They are, Sajnaa sootra clarifies the name of vibhakti and Vibhakti sootra denotes the use of specific vibhakti for the said sajnaa.
